Names 2006 All-Independent Men’s Basketball Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Kyle Myrick, the all-everything senior guard from Lincoln University (Pennsylvania), headlines the All-Independent Men’s Basketball team announced today by the Association of Division III Independents.

The Philadelphia, PA, native, who averaged 33.7 points and nearly eight assists per game, was named the player of the year. Myrick finished his season as the leading scorer in Division III, and ranked second in assists and fourth in steals (3.55 per game). In Lincoln University’s first NCAA tournament game in school history, Myrick scored 44 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out nine assists in a 102-96 win March 3 over Christopher Newport.

Lincoln University head coach Garfield Yuille, who, in only his second year, led the Lions to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship, was named the coach of the year. The Lions finished the season with a 25-4 record.

University of Maine, Presque Isle freshman guard Brett Miles, who averaged 20 points per game and set a school record for three-point field goals, was named the rookie of the year.

The All-Independent Men’s Basketball teams were selected by the men’s basketball coaches from member schools of the Association of Division III Independents.
