Names 2005 All-Independent Men's Basketball Teams
KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Michael Reich, one of the nation’s leading scorers and one of the all-time great players at Colorado College, was named the player of the year today by the Association of Division III Independents. A senior from Rolling Hills, CA, Reich led the team in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals.
New Jersey City University head coach Charles Brown, who led the Gothic Knights to a second consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament, was named the coach of the year. New Jersey City finished the season with an 18-10 record.
Mitchell College freshman guard/forward Jamale Foster, who averaged 18 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, was named the rookie of the year.
The All-Independent Men’s Basketball teams were selected by the men’s basketball coaches from member schools of the Association of Division III Independents.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 17 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in seven sports in 2004-05. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. For the first time, the Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce all-Independent teams at the conclusion of 10 other sports this year.
