KANSAS CITY, MO.--- The 2006 All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents.
Offensive Player of the Year (three-way tie)
Adam Lunger, University of Dallas, SO, Forward, Keller, TX – 25 goals, six assists
Christopher Mackinnel, Mitchell College, SR, Midfielder, Branford, CT – Led team with nine goals and 23 points
Stephen Wondolowski, University of California, Santa Cruz, SR, Forward, Danville, CA – Led team with 18 goals and 41 points
Defensive Player of the Year
Alex Tocco, University of California, Santa Cruz, JR, Defender, Long Beach, CA – Chief defender for a defense that led the nation in goals-against average, shutouts and goals allowed
Goalkeeper of the Year (tie)
Ryan West, Mitchell College, FR, New Britain, CT – Four shutouts and seven games where he allowed only one goal
Dave Khuen, Colorado College, JR, Boston, MA – Five shutouts and a 0.89 goals-against average
Rookie of the Year

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 25 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2006-07. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
