KANSAS CITY, MO.--- The 2007 All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents.
Offensive Player of the Year
Adam Lunger, University of Dallas, Jr., Forward, Keller, TX – 17 goals, seven assists, all-time school leader with 57 goals and 135 points in 54 matches.
Defensive Player of the Year
Niko Papathanasiou, Mitchell College, SR, Defender, New London, CT – Team leader and top defender who was selected to the all-tournament team at the AD3I Northeast Region Championship.
Goalkeeper of the Year
Jared Wheeler, University of California, Santa Cruz, SR, Arcata, CA – Allowed only 21 goals in 20 games for the 15-5 Banana Slugs.
Rookie of the Year (tie)
Ryan Meske, University of Dallas, FR, Midfielder, Niwot, CO – Scored seven goals and added two assists for a Dallas team that went 17-1-1.
Graham Twichell, Green Mountain College, FR, Forward, Exeter, NH – Scored nine goals and added three assists. Scored two game-winning goals.
Coach of the Year
Dean Roberts, Mitchell College – Mitchell won six of its last seven games to finish 8-12-1.
The All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were selected by the men’s soccer coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 21 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2007-08. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
