Association of Division III Independents
Names 2008 All-Independent Men’s Soccer Teams

 

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- The 2008 All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents. 

 

Offensive Player of the Year

Adam Lunger, University of Dallas, Sr, Forward, Keller, TX – 17 goals, nine assists, all-time school leader with 74 goals and 178 points. Led the Crusaders to its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance this year.  Was the AD3I offensive player of the year last year, as well.

 

Defensive Player of the Year

Jordan Ferrell, California State University, East Bay, SR, Defender, Stockton, CA – Team leader and top defender who also was selected to the AD3I All-Independent team last year.

 

Goalkeeper of the Year

Tyler Hadzinsky, Chapman University, SO, San Clemente, CA – Allowed only eight goals in 15 games for the 12-4-2 Panthers. His 0.62 goals-against average is the second best mark in school history.

 

Rookie of the Year

Cory Greiser, Lancaster Bible College, FR, Forward, Quakertown, PA – Scored 15 goals and added seven assists for a Lancaster Bible team that went 13-6.

 

Coach of the Year

David Hoffman, University of Dallas – Hoffman notched his 100th career victory in a memorable season.  Dallas won its first team sport conference title in the schools 42-year history, in any sport, and he led his team to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament.

 

The All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were selected by the men’s soccer coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 17 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in seven sports in 2008-09. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
