Association of Division III Independents
Names 2010 All-Independent Men’s Soccer Teams

OVERLAND PARK, KAN.--- The 2010 All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents. 

Offensive Player of the Year
Matt Fondy, University of California, Santa Cruz, SR, Forward, Foster City, Cal. – Scored 14 goals and added 12 assists for the 11-4-3 Slugs.

Co-Defensive Players of the Year
Tyler Hadzinsky, Chapman University, SR, Goalkeeper, San Clemente, Cal. – Recorded sub-1.00 goals-against average (0.081) for the third straight year. Recorded career highs with 82 saves and a .872 save percentage.

Joey Killion, University of Dallas, SO, Defender, Houston, Tex. – Leader on a defense that gave up only 1.23 goals per game.

Rookie of the Year
Neal Hetzel, University of California, Santa Cruz, FR, Forward, San Luis Obispo, Cal. – Became a full-time starter at mid-season and scored five goals, second most on the team.

Coach of the Year
Michael Runeare, University of California, Santa Cruz.

The All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were selected by the men’s soccer coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 13 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
