Association of Division III Independents
Names 2011 All-Independent Men’s Soccer Teams

OVERLAND PARK, KAN.--- The 2011 All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents. 

Offensive Player of the Year
Colby Twist, Nebraska Wesleyan University, SO, Forward, Elkhorn, Neb. – Led Nebraska Wesleyan and tied for the conference lead with nine goals scored.

Defensive Player of the Year
Craig Maffei, University of Maine-Presque Isle, SR, Defender, Readfield, Me. – An all-around outstanding defender who also led Presque Isle with eight goals scored.

Rookie of the Year
Raul Urshela, St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn), FR, Forward, Orlando, Fla. – Scored nine goals on 18 shots in only 11 games.

Coach of the Year
Michael Runeare, University of California, Santa Cruz.

The All-Independent Men’s Soccer teams were selected by the men’s soccer coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 11 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
