Names 2011 All-Independent Women's Basketball Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Jordan Osley, a senior guard from Mount Mary College, was named the player of the year as the All-Independent Women’s Basketball teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I).  
 
Osley, a native of Milwaukee, Wis., averaged 19.7 points per game (first in the AD3I) and ranked among the conference leaders in assists (second at 4.9 per game), steals (fourth with 48), and three-point field-goal percentage (sixth at 38 percent).  She completed her senior season as the record holder for nearly all single game, single season and career records at Mount Mary.
 
The members of the first team include Cara Sczepanski, University of Dallas; Danielle Owens, Trinity Washington University; Brandi Hood, Chapman University; Sadie Struebing, Nebraska Wesleyan University; Emily Pelletier, University of Maine-Presque Isle; and Shea Rasmussen, Nebraska Wesleyan University.
 
Finlandia University freshman guard-forward Janele Linna was named the AD3I rookie of the year.  Linna, who hails from Ontonagon, Mich., averaged 13.4 points, 2.8 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game.
 
Carol Jue, head women’s coach at Chapman University, was named the coach of the year.  Jue led the Panthers to the NCAA tournament for the 10th consecutive year.  Chapman won the AD3I Women’s West Region Championship with victories over UC Santa Cruz and Nebraska Wesleyan.  Chapman recorded its fourth straight 20-win season and the sixth in the past seven seasons.
 
The All-Independent Women’s Basketball teams were selected by the women’s basketball coaches from AD3I member schools.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 13 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in 2010-11. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports.
