Association of Division III Independents
Names 2005 All-Independent Women's Basketball Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Tarn Udall, a freshman forward from Colorado College, heads the first All-Independent Women’s Basketball team announced today by the Association of Division III Independents. The Carbondale, CO, native, who averaged 14 points and 13 rebounds per game, was named the player of the year. She also broke the Colorado College single-game (20) and single-season (322) rebounding records.

Chapman University head coach Carol Jue, who led the Panthers to the second round of the NCAA tournament, was named the coach of the year. Chapman finished the season with a 21-6 record.

University of Maine-Presque Isle forward Sarah Beasley, who averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds per game, was named one of the two rookies of the year. The other co-rookie of the year is Meredith College guard Nicole Hall, who averaged 14 points, four assists and almost three steals per game.

The All-Independent Women’s Basketball teams were selected by the women’s basketball coaches from member schools of the Association of Division III Independents.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 17 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in seven sports in 2004-05. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. For the first time, the Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce all-Independent teams at the conclusion of 10 other sports this year.
