Association of Division III Independents
Names 2005 All-Independent Women's Softball Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- All-Americans Jill Jeranko and Maggie Wilder of Chapman University head an impressive collection of softball student-athletes on the first All-Independent Softball teams named today by the Association of Division III Independents.

Division III softball coaches at member institutions of the Association of Division III Independents selected the players.

Jeranko, voted recently to the Division III first-team All-America team, was named the player of the year after she hit .435 with seven home runs and 38 runs batted in. Wilder was named pitcher of the year after she went 12-2 with a 0.98 earned-run average and six shutouts. Wilder also was named to the third-team All-America team.

Chapman, which won the Division III West Regional and advanced to the Division III Baseball Championship finals, placed four players on the first team. It completed its World Series run with a 2-2 record, and overall finished 36-9. In addition, head coach Janet Lloyd, who has a 370-121 record after 12 seasons at Chapman, was named coach of the year.

Chapman pitcher Jennifer Winford and Cal State East Bay designated player Sara Stas were voted the Co-Rookies of the Year. Winford finished the season 13-4 with a 1.14 ERA, while Stas hit .440 with four homers and 24 RBI.
