Association of Division III Independents
Names 2008 All-Independent Women's Volleyball Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Senior outside hitter Jackie Randolph of California State University, East Bay, who recently was named by the American Volleyball Coaches Association to the first team All-America team, headlines the All-Independent Women’s Volleyball teams named today by the Association of Division III Independents.

An Alameda, Cal., native, Randolph was named the player of the year after she led Cal State East Bay to a 29-5 record.   Randolph led the Pioneers with 409 kills and a .310 hitting percentage.  She also was second on the team with 415 digs. The Pioneers competed in the NCAA Division III Volleyball West Regional for the 11th consecutive year, but were beaten by Cal Lutheran in the second round.

Freshman setter Ashley Jedlicka of Nebraska Wesleyan University was named the AD3I rookie of the year.  Jedlicka, a native of Schuyler, Neb., ranked third in the AD3I with 9.02 assists per game.  She was particularly effective distributing the ball while always on the attack; she had 65 kills and a .269 hitting efficiency.

Nebraska Wesleyan head coach Gina Chambers, who led the Prairie Wolves to a 20-10 record and the school’s fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship, was named the coach of the year.  The Prairie Wolves ousted 16th-ranked Pacific Lutheran to win its first match in the NCAA tournament since 2002.  Nebraska Wesleyan lost in the second round to fourth-ranked and top seed La Verne.
