Association of Division III Independents
Names 2009 All-Independent Women's Volleyball Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Senior libero Linda Ly of Chapman University, who recently was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America team, headlines the All-Independent Women’s Volleyball teams named today by the Association of Division III Independents.

The 5-foot, 3-inch team captain revolutionized the libero position at Chapman, shattering every school record for digs. This season she finished with 822 digs and led all of Division III with 7.75 digs per set. Ly also set an NCAA Division III record with 56 digs in a four-set match against La Verne on Oct. 10. She finished the season with 11 matches of 30 or more digs. Ly ended her career with 2,529 career digs, which is almost 1,500 more than the next closest player in Chapman history.

Freshman outside hitter Theresa Wohldmann of the University of Dallas was named the AD3I rookie of the year.  Wohldmann led the team with 346 kills, and she finished second on the team in service aces (41) and digs (394).

Chapman head coach Mary Cahill was named the AD3I coach of the year after leading the Panthers to their first NCAA playoff appearance since 2005.  Chapman finished the season 18-14 before losing to Redlands in the first round of the NCAA Division III West Region championships.

The All-Independent Women’s Volleyball teams were selected by the women’s volleyball coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools.
