Names 2008 All-Independent Women’s Soccer Teams

 

 

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- The 2008 All-Independent Women’s Soccer teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents. 

 

Offensive Player of the Year

Annick Lamb, University of California, Santa Cruz, Sr., Forward, Santa Barbara, CA – 17 goals, three assists, all-time school leader with 59 goals and 128 points.

 

Defensive Player of the Year

Katie Moody, University of Maine--Presque Isle, Jr. Defender, Presque Isle, ME – Team leader and top defender who also scored eight goals and had two assists.

 

Goalkeeper of the Year

Koree Palmer, California State University, East Bay, Sr., Torrance, CA – Turned away 74 shots and recorded three shutouts.

 

Rookie of the Year

Kristina Clairmont, Lancaster Bible College, Fr., Forward, Dublin, PA – Led the 10-10 Chargers with 16 goals and six assists. 

 

Coach of the Year

Jay Callahan, Salem College – Callahan led Salem to a 7-8 record in 2008, turning around a program that won one game two years ago.

 

 

The All-Independent Women’s Soccer teams were selected by the women’s soccer coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 17 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2008-09.  The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.  The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports.  In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
