Division III Committee Appointment Process |
Independent Representation on NCAA Committees

Independent Representation on NCAA Committees

While independent institutions make up about 15 percent of the Division III membership, only 17 of 567 committee positions (3 percent) are filled by independents. Five key governance committees (Budget, Interpretations and Legislation, Membership, Nominating and Championships) conduct business of obvious importance to independents with nominal representation by independents.

The 11 Division III General Committees are as follows:

There are 256 possible committee members. Unfortunately, there are only nine representatives from independent institutions, five of whom are student-athletes.
