St. Joe’s wins DIII Independents Women’s Soccer Championship

Jordan named Most Outstanding Player

STANDISH, MAINE – First year Katie Jordan (Sandwich, MA) scored her 12th goal of the season in the 51st minute on a penalty kick and earned honors as Most Outstanding Player as the Monks (12-6) defeated Green Mountain College 4-0 in the DIII Independents Championship match this afternoon.

First year Megan Willette ( Waterville, ME) notched two first-half goals to give St. Joe’s a comfortable lead and Jordan’s goal made it 3-0. Senior Danielle McLaughlin ( Skowhegan, ME) scored the final goal of the game as Willette assisted in the 57th minute.

Junior keeper Krista Wotherspoon (New Gloucester, ME) had 4 saves in her eighth win and 6th shutout of the season while sophomore Claire Davis ( Newark, DE) had 7 saves for the Eagles (12-5). 

Meredith College and Russell Sage College play to a 2-2 tie in Consolation Game

Junior captain Michelle Pautler (Colonie, NY) assisted on two goals by senior captain Katharine Tracy (Newport, NY) for Russell Sage (7-4-7) and first year Anna Buryk (Fayetteville, NC) and sophomore Nicole Boucher (Cary, NC) both scored for Meredith (13-5-1) to deadlock the consolation game.

First year Elizabeth Poole ( Kingston, NC) had 1 save for the Meredith Angels while sophomore Schuyler Kokernak had 4 saves for the Russell Sage Gators.
