Minzel earns Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University junior guard Marcus Minzel (Lincoln, Neb.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. Minzel led NWU in scoring twice last week as the Prairie Wolves split a pair of road games. In a 76-66 come-from-behind victory at Midland Lutheran on Jan. 10, Minzel scored seven of his game-high 25 points as NWU started the second half on a 15-0 run, which turned a 25-19 deficit into a 34-25 Wesleyan advantage. The Warriors later reclaimed a 60-58 lead, but soon after, Minzel assisted on a basket that tied it and Nebraska Wesleyan never trailed again. Minzel went 4-for-4 at the line in the final 1:11 to help secure the victory. He also added 20 points in a 77-73 loss at Briar Cliff on Jan. 13. Minzel is coached by Cam Schuknecht.
