Fisher named Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Green Mountain College junior point guard Adam Fisher (Miami, Fla.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. In three games last week, Adam posted three double-doubles, good for 25.3 points per game, 12 rebounds per game, 5.7 assists per game, and 4.7 steals per game. Against Fisher College, he scored 31 points on 12-27 shooting, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished six assists, and had seven steals. He put up 23 points and pulled down 10 boards in a game versus University of Maine-Fort Kent, and he tallied 22 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists against St. Joe’s of Brooklyn. On the week, he shot a combined 30-60 from the field, good for a 50% shooting performance. Fisher is coached by Todd Montana.

Castillo receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY , Mo. – University of Dallas junior forward Ana Castillo (Dallas, Texas) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. In two back-to-back victories over Fisk University and LaGrange College, Castillo averaged 25.5 points per game and 18 rebounds per game. Against Fisk, she pumped in 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in limited action and against LaGrange, she broke out with 37 points and 25 rebounds to help her team overcome a five-point halftime deficit. Twelve of her 25 boards came on the offensive glass. On the game, she shot 45% from the floor and canned 19-23 free throws, good for an 83% mark. Castillo is coached by Gen Schmitt.
