Myrick named Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University (Pa.) senior guard Kyle Myrick (Philadelphia, Pa.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season. In leading Lincoln to the Manhattanville Castle Classic championship, Myrick was named tournament MVP after averaging 39.5 points per game and 10.5 assist per game in a pair of wins over Montclair State and Manhattanville College. Myrick posted his fifth double-double of the season with 34 points and 12 assists in a 100-84 win over Montclair State, then poured in 35 of his career high 45 points in the second half as Lincoln defeated Manhattanville, 118-101. He also handed out nine assists and grabbed seven rebounds in the win over Manhattanville. Myrick currently ranks second and fourth in Div. III scoring and assists, respectively. Lincoln, who is coached by Garfield Yuille, is now 18-4 on the season.

Holsworth receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Finlandia University sophomore guard Kathryn Holsworth (Republic, Mich.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. Holsworth, a 5’1” point guard, led her team to a 2-0 week by averaging 18.5 points per game, 11 assists per game, and 7.5 rebounds per game. Against Northland College, she sent the game to overtime with a driving layup with eight seconds remaining in regulation. Holsworth nearly recorded a triple-double in the 80-75 win with her 22 points, 10 assists, and 8 boards. She also helped Finlandia defeat Northland Baptist with an almost perfect shooting performance, making 7-of-8 shots from the floor for 15 points. She also added 12 assists and seven rebounds. Holsworth, who is coached by Steve Nordstrom, shot 63% (17-27) from the field on the week.
