a perfect 2-0 week for Thomas More College, Chad Wachs
averaged 17.0 points and 11.0 rebounds, with 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists,
and is the Association of Division III Men’s Basketball Player
of the Week. The 6-foot-6 senior also shot .481 from the field (13-37)
and .667 at the line (8-12).
In the Saints’ 110-91 win over LaGrange on January 15, he had
a monster double-double with 22 points and shot .571 (8-of-14) with
a career-high 15 rebounds (nine defensive), four assists, and three
steals. In TMC ‘s (6-9) 92-74 win at Berea College on January
12, the consistent offensive force added 12 points and seven rebounds.

BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

In a
2-0 week for New Jersey City University (7-7), sophomore point guard Latrese
McNair posted a solid all-around effort while leading the Gothic
Knights to consecutive wins for the first time this season. In two games,
McNair averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 steals, 6.0 assists, and 4.0 rebounds
per game. She is the Association of Division III Independents Women's
Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The eighth-ranked player in Division III in steals, she tallied 12 points
and five assists in a 63-56 win over Centenary College on January 12,
while swiping nine steals, marking the third time this season she has
had nine steals in a game.
On January 15, in a 57-52 win over the College of Notre Dame (MD) in Baltimore,
MD, she led the Knights with 13 points, seven rebounds, seven assists,
and six steals as the Knights improved to .500 on the year for the first
time. She now averages 4.9 steals per game, a total that should move into
the top five nationally when the latest NCAA report comes out on Tuesday.
NJCU is .500 in women's basketball after 14 games for the first time since
the 1998-99 season.
