Bynum earns Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week award

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Clarke College junior guard DeMonte Bynum (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season. In a 1-2 week, he averaged 22.7 points and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the field (20-of-40) and 55.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc (16-of-29). He posted 29 points, including seven three-pointers, and five assists in a loss to St. Ambrose and followed that up with 25 points and six assists in a 74-71 victory over University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He finished the week with 14 points and two assists in a loss to Franklin. His seven three-point field goals against St. Ambrose fell just one shy of the school mark.

 

Davis named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Maine-Presque Isle sophomore forward Erica Davis (Cumberland, Maine) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. She helped her team to three wins on the week by averaging 25.3 points, 13 rebounds, 4.7 steals and two assists per game. In a 93-43 victory over Augusta, she tallied 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting and added 12 rebounds, five steals and a pair of assists. She followed that performance with 23 points, 17 rebounds, five steals and two assists in a 70-64 win over Russell Sage and capped the week with her third double-double against Unity. In the win over Unity, she posted 29 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and two assists. On the week, Davis shot 62.8 percent from the field and was 22-of-30 (73.3) from the foul stripe.
