Pulkkinen named Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Joseph’s College ( Maine) senior guard Chad Pulkkinen ( Windham, Maine) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. In a 3-0 week, Pulkkinen shot 62% (18-29) from the field and 64% (11-17) from behind the arc while averaging 16.3 points per game. He recorded 18 points in a 99-91 overtime win over Thomas College and added 16 points in a 79-57 victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle. He had a steal and two free throws with 27 seconds to go to seal the overtime win over Thomas. Pulkkinen is coached by Rob Sanicola.

 

Rotimi receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY , Mo. – Lincoln University ( Pa.) junior center Mary Rotimi ( Philadelphia, Pa.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. In a 1-1 week, Rotimi averaged 18 points per game and 16 rebounds per game. In a 67-55 loss to Lebanon Valley, Rotimi posted 17 points and 11 rebounds. In Lincoln’s 79-71 win over Newport News Apprentice, she scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high 21 boards. It was Rotimi’s second game this season with at least 20 rebounds. Rotimi, who leads Div. III in rebounding with 13.2 per game, has recorded 12 double-doubles this season. Lincoln ended a seven-game losing streak with their win over NNA. Rotimi is coached by Andy Haman.
