MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

In
perhaps the best week one player has had this season among independent
schools, Lincoln University senior forward Jarett Kearse
is a no-brainer for Association of Division III Independents Men’s
Basketball Player of the Week, after averaging 32.0 points, 9.3 rebounds,
and 4.3 assists per game with 17 three-pointers in a 3-0 week for the
Lions (14-5).
In wins against Delaware Valley College, Hood College, and Valley Forge
Christian College, Kearse, a 6-7 forward who shoots like a guard, amassed
96 points, 28 rebounds, 13 assists, four steals and three blocks, while
shooing .452 from the field (33-73), .370 from three-point range (17-46),
and .706 from the line (12-17).
When LU crushed VFCC by 64 on February 3, 112-48, Kearse had 35 points,
10 rebounds, and five assists, with three three-pointers, while shooting
12-of-22 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the stripe.
His high game for the week came on February 2, when he compiled a 36-point,
14-rebound effort in a 77-71 win against Hood. In that game, he hit
an amazing nine threes (9-22) and 13 field goals (13-28) in 40 minutes
for the first of two double-doubles on the week.
The former University of West Virginia player opened his week with 25
points, seven assists, and four rebounds on January 31 against DVC,
shooting 8-of-23 with five threes.

After
averaging 16.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.0 steals, and 2.0
blocks per game while leading Colorado College to a 2-0 week, freshman
center Tarn Udall is the Association of Division III
Independents Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second
time this season.
In a pair of games for the Tigers (5-14), she collected 32 points, 27
rebounds, nine assists, six steals, and four blocks. Udall shot .500 from
the field (12-24) and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line (.727), as CC won
back-to-back games for the first time this season.
In the opening game of the Colorado College Classic on February 4, she
collected 11 points, 11 rebounds (seven defensive), four assists, four
steals, and a career-high four blocks, as the Tigers rolled by 33, 72-39.
On February 6, she tied her career high by scoring 21 points, grabbed
16 rebounds (11 defensive), and dished a career-high five assists, as
CC handled Palm Beach Atlantic University, 77-59, to win the tournament.
She shot .580 (7-12) in the win, and .780 at the line (7-9).
Udall, who ranks fifth in Division III in rebounding, hit double figures
on the glass for the 15th time in 19 games. She has also scored in double-figures
13 times and has 12 double-doubles. She leads the team in scoring, rebounding,
steals and blocked shots, and is fourth in assists.
