Fisher named Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Green Mountain College junior guard Adam Fisher ( Miami , Fla. ) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and the third time all season. Despite two losses, Fisher averaged 26.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4.5 steals per game on the week. He shot 19-of-43 from the field including 3-of-9 from three-point land. His performance against NAIA Div. II Lyndon State was perhaps his best game of the year, as he totaled 32 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including 8-of-8 from the free throw line, 14 rebounds, and seven steals. Fisher is coached by Todd Montana.

Atkinson receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University (Pa.) sophomore forward Asha Atkinson (Deptford, N.J.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season. In a 1-1 week, Atkinson averaged 19.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. She scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds in Lincoln’s 62-52 loss at College of Notre Dame. Atkinson bounced back and scored 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished four assists as the Lady Lions ended the regular season with an 81-56 win over Eastern University. On the season, she recorded six double-doubles and reached double-figures scoring nine consecutive times. Atkinson is coached by Andy Haman.
