Murphy earns second Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week award

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) sophomore forward Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, N.Y.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season. In a 2-1 week, Murphy led the Monks to the Association of Div. III Independents Northeast Championship with a career-high 34 points in an 89-80 win over Lincoln University (Pa.). On the week, Murphy averaged 20 points and 4.3 rebounds per game and also added eight assists and seven steals. Additionally, he shot a remarkable 51 percent from the field and 57 percent from behind the arc.

Cross named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Salem College freshman forward Lindsay Cross (Asheboro, N.C.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. With six seconds left on the clock, Cross grabbed an offensive rebound and scored the winning basket in the Association of Div. III Independents Atlantic Region championship game Saturday as Salem College defeated the University of Dallas, 65-63. In this victory, Cross scored 13 points while nabbing 11 boards. In Salem’s first round victory over Finlandia University, 72-68, she contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds, along with a pair of assists. On the week, Cross averaged a double-double with 11.5 points and 11 rebounds per game.
