Calandri named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of California-Santa Cruz senior guard Kayleigh Calandri (Alameda, Calif.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. Calandri averaged 29.5 points per game as the Banana Slugs went 1-1 on the week. She shot a remarkable 48% from the field, including 54% from the three-point line. In a win over La Sierra, Calandri finished with a career-high 38 points as she connected on 9-of-14 three-pointers (64.3%), breaking her previous record of seven threes in a single game.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on September 1, 2008 and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
