WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

BRENDA GALLARDO
Chapman University
Junior | Guard | Anaheim, CA / Anaheim HS

Chapman University junior guard Brenda Gallardo is the final Association of Division III Independents Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 10.5 points and 3.0 rebounds, while shooting .467 from three-point range (7-15) and 7-of-16 overall (.438), in guiding the Panthers to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Gallardo’s three-pointer with 2:42 remaining versus Cal Lutheran in the first round of the NCAA tournament on March 2, gave Chapman the lead for the first time since early in the first half and erased a 10-point second half deficit. The Panthers went on to win 72-65 on the strength of Gallardo's 3-for-3 performance from three-point range in the second half. Gallardo made four more threes (4-9) in a 31-point (86-55) loss to George Fox in the NCAA second round on March 5.

She was Chapman's scoring leader for the season at 9.6 per game, and hit 58 triples during the season as the Panthers finished 21-6 and reached the second round of the NCAA’s for the fourth straight season.
