Cascini earns Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University freshman pitcher/third baseman Zane Cascini (Lincoln, Neb.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week. Cascini picked up wins in his first two collegiate starts on the mound. On March 13, he allowed just five hits in six innings of work during NWU’s 15-8 win over the University of Dallas. On March 18, he threw a complete-game three-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 4-1 win against Peru State College. For the week, Cascini allowed just eight hits and five runs in 13 total innings pitched. He racked up 17 strikeouts, opponents hit just .178 against him, and he was perfect on seven fielding chances. The Prairie Wolves, who are coached by Bill Fagler, are 8-3 overall.

Burrola named Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Joseph’s College (Maine) sophomore pitcher/second baseman Gabrielle Burrola (Gallup, N.M.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week. On the week, Burrola earned a pair of wins on the mound, including a 6-2 victory over Skidmore by striking out seven and giving up eight hits. In an 8-0 win over Eastern Nazarene, she fanned seven in the no-hitter. Burrola also led the team with 12 hits (.387) and had three doubles and five runs batted in. She is coached by Jamie Smyth.
