Tiedgen named Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, MO – Nebraska Wesleyan University sophomore pitcher/left fielder Ashley Tiedgen ( Lincoln, Neb.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week. Tiedgen went 3-0 on the mound as Nebraska Wesleyan went 3-1 at the Marriott West Invitational in St. Louis, Mo. She didn’t allow a run in 13 innings of work, gave up just two hits and recorded 13 strikeouts. At the plate, she finished the week 4-for-12 (.333) with a triple, home run, six runs scored, six RBI and a .917 slugging percentage. Against Greenville College, Tiedgen threw a complete-game one-hitter as NWU won 4-0. The following day, she threw three hitless innings against Blackburn College and hit a grand slam in the bottom of the third to put the Prairie Wolves up 11-0. She was relieved in the top of the fourth as NWU went on to win the no-hitter in five innings. Tiedgen also helped NWU win an eight inning affair with Maryville University, 6-4, by allowing just one hit in three innings of relief to pick up her third win of the week and fifth win of the season. The Prairie Wolves, who are coached by Lance Kingery, improve to 7-1 overall.
