BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jim Goethals of Menlo College is the first Association of Division III Independents Baseball Player of the Week, after leading The Oaks to a perfect 4-0 week in which it outscored its opponents, 48-7. He is the first Menlo player to receive a weekly independent award in any sport. Goethals batted .375 (6-16), but was most valuable in run production, driving in 13 RBIs and scoring five times in just four games. He blasted two home runs and added three doubles. In a 15-1 rout of UMass-Dartmouth, he collected seven RBIs, with two homeruns, and two runs, in a 2-for-3 outing. In a 12-0 blanking of Occidental, he had three RBIs and a double, going 2-for-5. He added two RBIs in a 12-4 win over Claremont-Mudd. He had a .938 slugging percentage for the week. The catcher did not make an error in 25 chances.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Freshman | Catcher/Centerfield | Denver, CO/ Denver East HS

Laura Seewald is the first Association of Division III Independents Softball Player of the Week this season after hitting .571, and leading the Tigers (2-4) to their first two victories of the young campaign. In a doubleheader sweep of Pomona-Pitzer College on March 12, 4-3 and 11-2, she went a combined 4-for-7 with two doubles and two runs scored. She single-handedly won the opener of the twinbill, as she drove in all four RBIs for CC. Her slugging percentage for the week was .857, and she did not make an error in 13 chances.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

EMMY GROTE
Colorado College
Junior | Pitcher | Wellesley, MA/ Phillips Academy Andover HS

Emmy Grote is the first Association of Division III Independents Softball Pitcher of the Week this year, as she earned the victory for Colorado College in a 4-3 decision against Pomona-Pitzer College on March 12. In a complete game, seven-inning effort, she fanned nine, walked just two, and allowed only five hits. Although she allowed three runs, none were earned, as she finished with a 0.00 ERA.
