KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University ( Pa.) junior sprinter Lance Wigfall ( East Orange , N.J. ) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men’s track and field Athlete of the Week. Wigfall helped Lincoln begin its defense of their 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field championship by performing well against a predominantly Div. I field at the Raleigh Relays. On the meet, Wigfall won the 400-meter dash in a time of 47.29 and he anchored the 4x400-meter relay team to victory with a time of 3:11.22. He was also part of the third place sprint medley relay team. Wigfall beat a field of 79 runners (75 of which were runners at Div. I schools) to win the 400. In the 4x400, Lincoln, who is coached by Cyrus Jones, was the only Div. III school to finish in the top 20.
