Bettcher named Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Clarke College sophomore third baseman Chelsea Bettcher (Dubuque, Iowa) has been named the Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week. In five games played, Bettcher hit .600 with an .867 slugging percentage. She had nine hits in 15 at bats with four doubles and 10 RBI. Bettcher also recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage on the week. In a doubleheader sweep of Elmhurst College, she went 4-for-5 at the plate with eight runs batted in. Bettcher is coached by Cara Clark.

 

Hunter earns Association of Division III Independents men’s track and field Athlete of the Week award

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University (Pa.) freshman jumper Aaron Hunter (Sharon Hill, Pa.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s track and field Athlete of the Week. At Lincoln’s opening meet of the outdoor season, Hunter finished first in both the men’s long jump and triple jump. Hunter provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Championships with leaps of 7.13m and 14.65m, respectively. Hunter is coached by Cyrus Jones.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on September 11, 2006 and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
