Rust earns Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week awardKANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University sophomore designated hitter John Rust (Lincoln, Neb.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week. Rust hit four home runs and had 12 RBI on the week to lead NWU to a 5-1 record. In a win versus Hastings, Rust was 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBI. He has hit a home run in three straight games and has now extended his hitting streak to 10 games. For the week, Rust had a slugging percentage of 1.095. He was 10-of-21 (.476) with a double, four home runs and 12 RBI in six games.

Nixon named Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the WeekKANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University senior shortstop Klancy Nixon (Norfolk, Neb.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week. Nixon was named the MVP of the Grinnell College Tournament as she led the Prairie Wolves to a 3-1 record and the tournament title. She was 7-of-14 in the tournament with two home runs, a triple and five RBI. She helped NWU defeat NCAA Div. III No. 15 Washington (Mo.), 3-2, in the championship game. Earlier in the week, Nixon had the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the 11th inning as Wesleyan defeated Concordia (Neb.), 7-6, in 11 innings. She finished the week with 13 hits, two triples and two homers, while batting .448 (13-of-29). NWU went 6-2 on the week. |
