Hilgenkamp named AD3I baseball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University senior pitcher/first baseman Cory Hilgenkamp (Lincoln, Neb.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week. Hilgenkamp picked up a pair of complete game victories on the week and compiled a .381 batting average (8-for-21). He nabbed a complete game, shutout victory over Concordia allowing just two hits and striking out eight. He also helped his own cause from the plate by adding a 2-run home run. Hilgenkamp’s ERA on the week was 3.21 and he totaled 12 strikeouts. He also added three doubles and seven RBI from the plate.

 

Scheer selected as AD3I softball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Joseph’s College (N.Y.) sophomore pitcher/third baseman Lisa Scheer (Bayside, N.Y.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week. Scheer tossed her first career no-hitter during an 18-0 win over College of New Rochelle. In five innings, Scheer struck out seven and gave up just one walk. She compiled a 2-1 record on the week with 23 strikeouts and a 2.80 ERA. From the plate, she batted .400 (10-for-25) with six runs scored, four RBI and two doubles.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on August 31, 2009 and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
