Cascini named Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University junior pitcher Zane Cascini (Lincoln, Neb.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week. Cascini threw a complete game one-hitter to get the victory over Morningside College in a game between the top two teams in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. He did not allow an earned run, marking the third straight complete game he has thrown without allowing an earned run.

 

Chiaramonte selected as Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Joseph’s College (N.Y.) freshman pitcher Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week. Chiaramonte posted a 3-0 record on the week and pitched the first perfect game (5 innings) in St. Joseph’s history. She accumulated a 0.39 ERA over three complete games and 18.0 innings of work throughout the week. Chiaramonte held her opponents to a .113 batting average as she struck out 24, issued no walks, and gave up just seven hits and one earned run. In addition to her pitching prowess in the 10-0, perfect game win over Sarah Lawrence, she also went 3-for-4 from the plate with five RBI.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on September 1, 2008 and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
