Pivarunas named Association of Division III Independents men’s cross country Runner of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Dallas junior Greg Pivarunas (Elma, N.Y.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men’s cross country Runner of the Week. Pivarunas ran a 30:02 8K on his way to a ninth place finish. His time was three seconds faster than it was at the same race last season.

 

Cuba receives Association of Division III Independents women’s cross country Runner of the Week honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Dallas junior Angela Cuba (Holliday, Texas) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents women’s cross country Runner of the Week. Cuba ran a 24:20.31 6K on her way to a first place finish among 27 competitors. Her time was almost identical to her result at the same race last year. Dallas finished second out of three teams.

 

Brown dubbed Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Dallas senior midfielder Stuart Brown (Boerne, Texas) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week. In three games, Brown recorded five assists and one goal. The midfielder assisted on three goals in one game and added two more and a goal in another. The team went 2-1 during that span.

 

Michaux receives Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Salem College junior defender Michala Michaux (Morganton, N.C.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week. Michaux anchored the defense for Salem as the Spirits allowed just two goals en route to a 2-1 week. She also added a goal on a corner kick in a 3-0 win over Peace College. Salem also defeated Hollins, 5-1, but fell in overtime to Shenandoah, 1-0.

 

Farrell named Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Dallas sophomore middle blocker Celina Farrell (Corinth, Texas) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week. Farrell recorded 42 kills in four matches over the week, giving her a .370 attack percentage. She averaged 3.5 kills per game and added five solo blocks and seven block assists. Against No. 13 ranked Austin College, she recorded 11 kills, two solo blocks and three block assists. Dallas finished the week with a 3-1 record.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on September 1, 2008 and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
