Fondy earns Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of California-Santa Cruz junior forward/midfielder Matt Fondy (Foster City, Calif.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week. Fondy scored a pair of goals against Linfield College in a 3-1 victory and also netted the game-tying goal in a 3-3 draw with Redlands. His contribution helped the Banana Slugs to a No.1 ranking in the NSCAA West Region and a No. 7 national ranking.

Evans receives Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Trinity Washington University senior defender Allison Evans (Chevy Chase, Md.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week. Evans anchored the defense in two shutout victories for the Tigers, resulting in a pair of 1-0 scores over both Patrick Henry and Washington Adventist. Additionally, she provided the assist on the game-winner over Patrick Henry.

Brammeier named Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University junior outside hitter Laura Brammeier (Lincoln, Neb.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week. Brammeier recorded five straight double-doubles on the week as NWU went 4-1. She averaged 4.74 kills and 3.89 digs per set and totaled 90 kills and 74 digs in five matches. Against Loras, she had 15 kills and zero errors for a .600 hitting percentage.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on August 31, 2009, and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
