Dunker named Association of Division III Independents men’s cross country Runner of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University junior runner Chris Dunker (Beatrice, Neb.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s cross country Runner of the Week. Dunker led the Prairie Wolves to the Maroon Division championship out of 27 teams at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 30. Dunker, who is coached by Dr. Ted Bulling, ran the 8K course in 25:46, good for a fifth-place individual finish out of 330 runners.

 

Hubbard receives second Association of Division III Independents women’s cross country Runner of the Week honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University junior Brittany Hubbard (Gering, Neb.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s cross country Runner of the Week for the second time this season. Hubbard placed third out of 379 runners at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational Collegiate Women Maroon Division, ran in Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 30. Her 5K time of 18:33 paced the Prairie Wolves for the second straight meet. NWU, who is coached by Dr. Ted Bulling, claimed runner-up honors out of 33 teams.

 

Teliszczak receives Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Clarke College junior midfielder Tim Teliszczak (Sharon, Wis.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week. Teliszczak scored a pair of first-half goals in Clarke’s 2-1 home victory over Luther College on Sept. 27. Four of his six shots were on goal, including his second goal, which proved to be the game-winner. Teliszczak, who is coached by Sean Esterhuizen, helped Clarke improve to 5-7 overall.

 

Woodward honored as Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University junior midfielder/forward Brooke Woodward (Hastings, Neb.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week. Woodward extended her streak of game-winning goals to three games, as NWU shut out its two opponents on the week, 3-0 over Concordia University (Neb.) and 1-0 over Dordt College. Her goal in the 10th minute against NAIA Region III No. 4 Concordia was the first of three NWU goals and her score against NAIA Region III No. 3 Dordt came with just four minutes remaining in the match. Dordt was one of just two GPAC teams to defeat the Prairie Wolves a season ago, blanking NWU 3-0 at home. With the win over the Defenders, Wesleyan continues their unbeaten streak at home, improving to 20-0-3 in Abel Stadium since Oct. 11, 2003. NWU is the only unbeaten team remaining in conference play. Woodward leads the team in game-winning goals (4) and is second in goals (4) and points (9). Under head coach Jane Hoops, Wesleyan improves to 6-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the GPAC.

 

Spearman named Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of California-Santa Cruz junior outside hitter Jihan Spearman (Berkley, Calif.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week. Spearman totaled 41 kills, 48 digs and six blocks in three matches as the Banana Slugs went 3-1 on the week. In 12 games, she averaged 3.4 kills/game and 4.0 digs/game. Against Cal State East Bay, she led the team with 14 kills and a .321 hitting percentage and she followed that with nine kills and a season-high 21 digs against Dominican. She capped the week with a season-high 18 kills and added 19 digs in a 3-2 win over Colorado College. Spearman is coached by Selene Teitlbaum.
