JOSE DeBERNARD Senior forward Jose DeBernard of New Jersey City University is the Association of Division III Independents Men's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring two goals in 37 minutes of action, including the game-winner, as the Gothic Knights (7-2) outshot Hunter College , 55-0, and routed the Hawks by a 10-0 score on September 25. It was NJCU's second straight shutout. The win marked the ninth time NJCU has scored at least 10 goals in a game in school history and the fourth occurrence since 1999. DeBernard, who scored 17 goals in 2002, scored his fifth and sixth goals of the year in the first half, to give NJCU a 2-0 edge. His eventual winner at 17:32 was headed in off a corner kick. He added his second goal at 37:08 with a blast over a leaping opposing keeper. He was subbed out of the game after the goal, and did not play in the rest of the rout. He is second on NJCU in scoring with 14 points (six goals, two assists) in eight games, and leads the team in game-winners. NJCU currently ranks 11 th in the nation in scoring offense.

JULIANNE BROWN Julianne Brown of Thomas More College has been named the Association of Division III Independents Women's Soccer Player of the Week, as she scored twice and added an assist for the Saints, in a 5-1 victory over Muskingum College on September 25. TMC improved to 7-1-1 overall with the victory. Brown, who is tied for the team lead in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points, scored TMC's first two goals in the win, as the Saints built a 4-0 lead.

JENNY STEPHENSON Jenny Stephenson of Nebraska Wesleyan University is the Association of Division III Independents Women's Volleyball Player of the Week after posting perhaps the best all-around match of her career. In the Prairie Wolves 3-1 (31-29, 30-17, 23-30, 30-20) victory over Morningside College (Iowa), the 5-foot-6 setter distributed 50 assists (12.5 per game), defended 17 digs (4.25 per game) and added four service aces and three blocks. She also contributed three kills without an error in eight swings for a .375 percentage. NWU is 7-5 overall and has won three straight matches.
