Duran named Association of Division III Independents women’s Runner of the Week KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Meredith College senior Charity Duran (Shallotte, N.C.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s Runner of the Week. On the week, Duran won the Div. III portion of the North Carolina Intercollegiate Championship with her 5K time of 25:52. She placed 9th overall behind seven runners from N.C. State and one from Div. II UNC-Pembroke. Her performance led Meredith to the Div. III state title as well as a second place overall finish (including Div. II schools). Duran is coached by first-year head coach Amy Olsen.

Itman receives Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Maine-Presque Isle senior forward Sebastian Itman (Montevideo, Uraguay) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week. Itman scored three goals on the week and recorded one assist. He scored two goals and provided the game winning assist in a 3-2 win over Thomas College and he netted the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over St. Joseph’s College. Itman’s play has helped his team reach the .500 mark with a 5-5-1 overall record. He is coached by Alan Gordon.

Childs receives Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Meredith College junior defender Margot Childs (Raleigh, N.C.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week. At her defender position, Childs helped her team to a 2-1 win at North Carolina Wesleyan during the week. Despite being a defensive player, she still managed to provide the game winning assist in the victory. Childs continues to anchor a tough Meredith defense, as the Angels have allowed just five goals in their last eight games. They are also holding their opponents to an average of eight shots per game. Childs has helped her team to a 10-4 record on the year.

Clithero named Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Colorado College freshman outside hitter Anna Clithero (West Linn, Ore.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week. Clithero hit .383 and averaged 3.67 kills per game for the week, en route to her 13th and 14th double-doubles of the season. Clithero helped Colorado College to a pair of sweeps over Aurora University. In game one, she hit .320 with 11 kills and 10 digs and in game two, she hit a season-best .455 with 11 kills, 10 digs, and a season-best four service aces. For the season, Clithero is second on the team in kills, averaging 3.06 per game, and is third on the team in digs, averaging 3.27 a game. Clithero is coached by Rick Swan.
