WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LIZZELLE CINTRON
New Jersey City University
Freshman | Middle Blocker | Newark , NJ / Elizabeth HS

Lizzelle Cintron , the NCAA Division III leader in kills per game by a staggering margin, continued to rewrite the record books in a 3-0 week for the now 23-5 Gothic Knights. After averaging an overwhelming 7.00 kills, 5.00 digs, and 8.28 points per game, and unleashing her 600 th kill of the season, Cintron is the Association of Division III Independents Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the fifth time this season and the fourth week in a row. Cintron now has 604 kills and needs 33 the remainder of the season to rank among the Top 20 in kills in one season in Division III history. NJCU has also won a school record 13 consecutive matches, including 11 via sweep.

She belted 63 kills in only nine games in three matches, rejected eight blocks, defended 45 digs, hit .495, and added four aces. She hit 63-11-105 for the week. Cintron crushed 28 kills in a 3-0 victory over Lehman College and added three blocks and 34.0 points. The 28 kills set a record for kills in a three-game match. In a 3-0 blanking of Medgar Evers College , she posted 21 kills and only one error in 26 swings for a .769 percentage, while supplying 16 digs and 23 points. The hitting percentage ranks among the Top 20 single-match performances for a player with 20 or more attempts in Division III history. She wrapped up the week by eclipsing the 600-kill threshold with 14 ( 14-2-23 ) in a sweep of Keystone College . She hit .522 in the match, defended 20 digs, and added four blocks (three solo) for 17.5 points. NJCU needs just three wins to tie the single-season record for victories.
