Matsuoka earns Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of California-Santa Cruz sophomore guard Ryan Matsuoka (Cupertino, Calif.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. Matsuoka averaged 16 points and four rebounds per game while shooting 19-of-37 (.514) from the floor and 6-of-11 (.545) from beyond the three-point arc. The Slugs finished the week 2-1 overall and 2-0 against Div. III opponents.

 

McQuillan named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Joseph’s College (N.Y.) freshman point guard Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. In three games on the week, McQuillan averaged 25.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.0 assists per game. She shot 41.3% from the field including 40% from behind the arc and 81.8% from the free throw line. Her best performance came in a 78-71 loss to Penn State Berks when she amassed 33 points, including 22 first-half points, six boards and five steals. She was named to the Gallaudet Thanksgiving Tournament All-Tournament Team after averaging 30.0 points and 6.5 rebounds at the tournament.
