KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Green Mountain College senior forward/center Doug Hammond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. Hammond led the Eagles to two victories and a tournament championship in the Eastern Nazarene Crusader Classic. On the week, he averaged a double-double with 19.5 points and 11.5 rebounds and he also chipped in 3.5 blocks per game. He shot 60% from the field (15-of-25) and converted on 9-of-13 free throws. In GMC’s 77-75 overtime win over Eastern Nazarene, he put up 26 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks and he followed that performance with 13 points and 13 boards in a 70-66 championship game victory over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Hammond was selected as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
