Wylie earns Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University (Pa.) senior guard Sami Wylie (Philadelphia, Pa.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. Wylie scored a career-high and school record 69 points during a 201-78 victory over Ohio State-Marion Saturday afternoon. Wylie was 23-for-44 from the field and 21-for-41 from three-point land. His 21 three-pointers are an NCAA record, bettering the previous record of 19 by Grinnell’s Jeff Clement. Wylie fueled a 2-1 week for 11th-ranked Lincoln, including 14 second-half points and four three-pointers in helping the Lions defeat New Jersey City for the first time in school history, 92-84. Prior to the game, Lincoln had been 0-7 against NJCU all-time. On the week, Wylie averaged 35 points per game.

 

Atkinson receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University (Pa.) junior forward Asha Atkinson (Deptford, N.J.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. In a pair of wins last week, Atkinson averaged 17 points, 11.5 rebounds and three assists per game. During a 67-52 victory over Wilson, she scored 13 points and grabbed nine boards to help Lincoln break a 10-game road losing streak. Atkinson followed up that effort with 21 points and 14 rebounds in a 77-63 victory at Brooklyn College. At 4-2, Lincoln is off to its best start since 2000.
