Ekmark earns AD3I men’s basketball Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Dallas senior guard/forward Travis Ekmark (Yokosuka, Japan) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. In a pair of games, Ekmark led the Crusaders with 31 points, averaging 15.5 per game over the 1-1 week. He also averaged 6.5 rebounds per game and shot 50% (11-of-22) from the field, including 57.2% (4-of-7) from beyond the arc. Ekmark tallied a team high six assists and six steals on the week.

 

Sczepanski named AD3I women’s basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Dallas junior forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, Texas) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. During a 1-1 week, Sczepanski exceeded the 1,000-career point mark in style as she recorded her third double-double of the season in a 58-45 win over Concordia University (TX). She totaled 27 points and 15 rebounds in the victory, bringing her two-game average to 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. She shot 43.8% from the floor and 85.7% from the free throw line and chipped in with five blocks and five steals on the week.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on August 31, 2009, and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
