Bynum earns Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Clarke College junior guard DeMonte Bynum (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. In three games, Bynum averaged 19.7 points per game and shot 47.8 percent from the field. He also posted a 30.4 percentage from beyond the three-point arc and an 80 percent mark from the charity stripe. Additionally, he chipped in nine steals and six assists. In an 80-70 win over Knox, Bynum scored a game-high 29 points and was 10-of-19 from the floor, 4-of-9 from three-point range and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. He also added three steals in the win. Bynum is coached by Jon Davison.

 

Springs receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Salem College freshman center Shakila Springs (Winston-Salem, N.C.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. In four games, Springs averaged a double-double, posting 13 points and 14.8 rebounds per game, including a season-high 23 boards against Greensboro College. She also added 12 points, three blocks and three steals in the loss to Greensboro. Springs followed that performance with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a 69-62 win over Peace College. She finished the week with five points, 16 rebounds and five blocks against College of Notre Dame and 18 points and nine boards against Trinity University (District of Columbia). Springs is coached by Jim Jackson.
