Fabian
Lenox, a senior guard for the University of Maine-Presque Isle,
becomes the first Owl ever to receive a weekly independent award in
any sport, after averaging 32.5 points, and 5.5 rebounds per game and
being selected to the All-Tournament team at the Star City Tournament.
He has been named the Association of Division III Independents Men’s
Basketball Player of the Week for December 6.
UMPI (1-3) defeated Unity College on December 4 to advance to the title
game, as he notched 34 points on 13-of-25 shooting (.520), while adding
seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. He also hit two three-pointers
and went 6-of-10 from the charity stripe.
In the championship game, Lenox, a 6-0 guard, compiled 31 points to
give him 65 in the tournament. Amazingly, he canned 14-of-17 from the
free-throw line (.824). He added seven field goals, including three
treys, while contributing four rebounds.

In a
2-1 week for Lincoln University (PA), sophomore guard Rayshonna
Hill becomes the first ever Lion to earn a weekly independent
award in any sport with her selection as this week's Association of Division
III Independents Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She scored 20
or more in two of her teams’ three games last week, and averaged
20.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.0 steals per game. In the three games,
she tallied 62 points, 22 rebounds, 15 steals, and seven assists while
playing 32.7 minutes per contest. She sank 20-of-25 free throws (.800)
on the week. Lincoln is 3-3 overall.
In a 57-47 home win against Penn State-Berks on November 29, she compiled
14 points (8-of-21) and connected on 8-of-10 from the line, with seven
rebounds, two assists and two steals.
In a 60-45 loss at Division II Wilmington College (DE) on December 2,
Hill was one rebound and one steal shy of a triple-double, finishing with
15 points (7-of-20 FG, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds, nine steals, and four assists.
Eight of her nine swipes came in the second half.
On December 4, she guided the Lions past the College of Notre Dame (MD),
67-56, while amassing 23 points (7-of-20 FG), six rebounds, and four steals.
She also hit 8-of-11 free throws.
