Bynum earns Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week for second straight week

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Clarke College junior guard DeMonte Bynum (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. In a 79-67 setback to Bethany (Minn.), Bynum had 19 points, seven steals and six assists. He was 6-of-14 from the field and 3-of-9 from three-point range. Additionally, he shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Bynum is coached by Jon Davison.

 

Riutta receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Finlandia University freshman forward Jodi Riutta (Houghton, Mich.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. In a road loss at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Riutta scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. She shot 13-of-26 from the field, good for a 50 percent field goal shooting percentage. On Saturday, she helped Finlandia defeat the University of Wisconsin-Stout, ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division III, by leading all scorers with 22 points and grabbing nine boards. On the week, she averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds per game.
