Artley named Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the WeekKANSAS CITY, Mo. – Finlandia University junior guard Ryan Artley ( Baraga, Mich.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. Artley helped Finlandia to a 2-0 week by averaging 27 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game. In a win over Davenport (82-58), Artley led the team in scoring with 22 points on 8-13 shooting. He also added five assists and converted on 4-4 free throws. In an 80-76, overtime victory over Northland College, Artley recorded 32 points on 12-19 shooting, including three three-point shots. He also grabbed eight rebounds. On the week, Artley shot an amazing 62.5% (20-32) from the field. Finlandia, who is coached by Charlie Kemppainen, improves to 4-4.

Auguste receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award KANSAS CITY , Mo. – Colorado College freshman guard Melanie Auguste (Cameron Park, Calif.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. On the week, Auguste averaged 19 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game as Colorado College won both of its contests to improve to 6-3 overall. She scored 17 points, pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, and had eight assists in a 78-68 victory over Div. II Chadron State College. She came back with 21 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in a 94-63 win over Johnson & Wales ( Colo.) University. During the two games, she shot 60.8% (14-23) from the field and had a 3-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. For the year, she leads the team in rebounding and is second in scoring. Auguste is coached by Kelly Mahlum.
