MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jon Pratt, a senior guard for Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, becomes the first Monks’ athlete in any sport to receive a weekly independent award, after averaging 23.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while recording at least 22 points in all three games last week. For leading his team to a 3-0 week, Pratt is the Association of Division III Independents Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 13. SJCME is 5-3 overall after posting a 3-0 record last week.

Pratt totaled 70 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists, while shooting .471 from the field. In an 84-76 overtime home victory over Framingham State on December 7, Pratt dropped in 25 points, including eight in overtime. He shot 9-of-18 from the floor, and 3-of-7 from three-point range. He added five rebounds and three assists.

The 6-2 guard tallied 23 points (8-of-19), seven rebounds, and two assists, and canned 7-of-8 from the line in a December 11 overtime victory at the University of Maine-Fort Kent, 96-91. In Sunday’s 74-59 win at Maine-Presque Isle, Pratt finished with 22 points (7-of-14), six rebounds, and four assists.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nebraska Wesleyan University junior center Lisa German is this week's Association of Division III Independents Women's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, while shooting .528 from the field and only committing one turnover in 68 minutes of action. Despite her play, the Prairie Wolves (2-6) lost two difficult games last week.

In a 72-55 loss against Morningside College on December 7, the No. 1 ranked team in NAIA Division II, she recorded her first career double-double, while posting career-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds (10 defensive). She shot .643 from the floor (9-of-14), and helped NWU close the gap to 10 in the contest, before falling.

She shattered her career high on December 11, amassing 25 points on 10-of-22 shooting (.455), in an 80-65 loss to Dordt College. She added five defensive boards in the defeat.
