MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tyler Lloyd becomes the first Finlandia University student-athlete to earn a weekly independent award after averaging 27.5 points per game and earning Most Valuable Player honors as the Lions (5-5) won the championship of the Alma College Rotary Tournament. For his play, Lloyd is the Association of Division III Independents Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

In a 2-0 week for the Lions, Lloyd, a 6-5 forward, averaged 27.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game while shooting .750 from the field (21-of-28) and converting 91.7 percent of his free throws (11-of-12).

He totaled 55 points and 18 rebounds in the two games. In Finlandia's 102-81 win over Grace Bible College on December 17, he scored 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting, and grabbed seven rebounds. Then, in the Lions' 87-85 overtime win against host Alma College, Lloyd had a monster double-double game, scoring 38 points on 13-of-17 shooting, and made 11-of-12 from the line, while seizing 11 rebounds, and adding three steals.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nebraska Wesleyan University junior center Lisa German is this week's Association of Division III Independents Women's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, while shooting .528 from the field and only committing one turnover in 68 minutes of action. Despite her play, the Prairie Wolves (2-6) lost two difficult games last week.

In a 72-55 loss against Morningside College on December 7, the No. 1 ranked team in NAIA Division II, she recorded her first career double-double, while posting career-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds (10 defensive). She shot .643 from the floor (9-of-14), and helped NWU close the gap to 10 in the contest, before falling.

She shattered her career high on December 11, amassing 25 points on 10-of-22 shooting (.455), in an 80-65 loss to Dordt College. She added five defensive boards in the defeat.
